Simple Steps to Sharing LinkedIn Content

Building a digital presence via sharing LinkedIn content is a great way to showcase your expertise. If you aren’t already using this strategy, it’s time to build it into your digital marketing plan. To save you some time, share content from other professionals with your own lead-in message. This is called “content curation” as opposed to “content creation.” Here are two simple ways to share LinkedIn content.

How to Share Content on LinkedIn

Choose content you want to share and click the “share” button on the bottom of the post.

A pop-out window will appear, and you’ll either click on “Share to Feed” to post publicly from your LinkedIn Profile, or “Send as Message” if you want to privately direct message the post to one or more of your contacts. If you’re trying to build your digital presence, it usually makes the most sense to post publicly on your profile.

Publicly Sharing Sharing LinkedIn Content to Your Feed

These are the steps for sharing to your feed from your profile. First, make sure “Share to Feed” is selected.

When you’re composing your message, try to tag a person, brand or use a common hashtag to extend the reach of your content.

Once you’re ready to post, click “Post.”

This is what your post will look like:

Privately Sharing Sharing LinkedIn Content via Message

These are the steps for sharing privately via a message. First, make sure “Send as Message” is selected.

Next, type the name(s) of the recipient(s) in the first box.

Include a message explaining why you’re sharing the content with the person or group of people.

Go ahead and click “Send.”

Final Thoughts

Sharing other people’s content (OPC) is a great way to show that you’re staying on top of the latest news and industry trends. It often takes less time than creating your own content, and it saves you from reinventing the wheel if someone has already written extensively on a topic.

In addition to posting on your feed and in messages, you can also post on LinkedIn Groups. Find out how to do that, here.

Before you start posting on LinkedIn, it’s a good idea to get your profile in tip top shape. If potential customers connect with you, your profile should be up-to-date at the very least. Ideally, you should showcase some of your most prominent business wins. To learn more about building your LinkedIn portfolio, read this.
